Casio offers a family of digital cameras called Exilim. Features of the Exilim are pretty impressive on the surface: make-up mode, HD movies, You Tube capture mode, and night scene to name a few.

Night scene is a feature that allows you to take pictures at night without using a tripod. It does this by detecting if the camera is mounted on a tripod or if it is hand held. If the camera is hand held it compensates for hand shake allowing clear and focused pictures to be taken.

You Tube capture mode enables you to take videos and seamlessly upload them to You Tube. You take the movie using the Exilim camera. Then you use a tool that is built into the digital camera to upload the video to You Tube.

The make-up mode feature is one of the most interesting features. This feature is for use with portrait-style pictures. It will smooth rough looking skin and reduce shadows on the face. There are twelve levels to this feature allowing for light to heavy compensation of your digital image.

Reviews of various cameras within this family are mixed. Some of the lower resolution cameras receive bad marks for photo quality – graininess being one of the most common complaints. However, if you are not a professional photographer you do not need the highest resolution on the market. Most reviews tout ease of use, rich feature set, and portability. Overall an interesting family of cameras that is worthy of consideration when purchasing a new digital camera.
