For those of you, who thought the electronic scooter was the only choice left for small motorized personal transportation, let me tell you that Honda developed a new kind of personal transportation with the senior population in mind. I'm talking about Honda's U3-X: the evolution of the unicycle.

The U3-X is basically a combination between a stool and a unicycle, making this 2 feet 2 inches one-wheeled cool chair, one of the smallest personal transportation devices of our time.

The lithium-ion battery-powered Honda U3-X is an 8-shaped unicycle with foldable seat and foot rests and it weighs less than 22 lbs (10 kg). It's capable of running up to one hour per battery charge.

It provides 360 degrees free movement thanks to Honda's Omni Traction-Directional Driving Wheel System or HOT Drive System, so you're not only capable of driving the U3-X forward, backward and side to side, you can also go in diagonal directions on this stool as well.

According to Honda, this experimental model doesn't require training to ride it; you just have to unfold the seat and foot rest and ride it, leaning in the direction you wish to go, controlling most of its movements with your upper body.

This model is experimental and it's not for sale, although now some people are saying this is a must for office supplies. However, Honda has no plans to start selling them anytime soon and not even how much would it cost, but if you happen to be in Chiba, Japan on October 24th , you can watch the showcase at the 41st Tokyo Motor Show 2009.
