It ruins the game!(Now I'll go back to explaining how the Yankees can use it to their advantage.)Does anyone really want to see Chad Gaudin start in Anaheim, even if the Yankees are somehow magically up three games to none Did we not learn about hubris five years ago when we let Kevin Brown and Orlando Hernandez' Low-80s Fastball start three combined games in a championship seriesWe have the best three-man rotation in the sport right now. There's no good reason to add a mediocre fourth arm to the mix when the schedule doesn't make it absolutely necessary.More thoughts, plus a postmortem on the Twins series, tomorrow.. DULLES, Va.(Business Wire)Encore Networks: Deployment of Encores Industrially Hardened (Rugged) RoutersAllow for the Seamless Migration of Critical SCADA Network and Control Functionsin Frame Relay and IP NetworksSee Encore Networks SCADA Solutions at DistribuTECH - Booth 2417San Diego Convention Center, February 3-5Encore Networks today announced that the North Carolina Electric MembershipCooperative (NCEMC) has standardized on Encores industrially hardened (rugged)router, the BANDIT, for their Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)platform upgrade. The BANDIT will provide multiple NCEMC electrical cooperativeswith a secure method for converting legacy SCADA protocols for transport overFrame Relay and IP networks.

These SCADA networks must now meet Critical InfrastructureProtection (CIP) requirements mandated by the National Electrical ReliabilityCorporation (NERC). "As is the case with all utility companies, the NCEMC cooperatives are beingpushed by government regulations and industry initiatives to improve thesecurity of their internal SCADA networks," stated Bruce Russell, EncoreNetworks Vice-President of Business Development. With the move towards digital methods oftransport, the costs to maintain these analog lines have increased. The BANDIT ensures secure system data and SCADA network connections directly toa Wide Area Network (WAN) and/or Local Area Network (LAN), or commercialcellular data IP services. The BANDIT is a rugged security router withintegrated firewall, terminal server, serial-to-IP conversion, legacy-protocolconversion, and VPN functionality. Its hardened construction allows foroperation over the wide temperature ranges found at remote substations. Utility customers have complete freedom to configure the BANDIT to anytransmission service including Frame Relay, VSAT, cellular wireless, cablemodem, DSL, fiber, microwave and dial-up.
