Computers are a vital part of everyday life. You need them for work, for school and for play. Laptops make it incredibly convenient to take your computing power with you wherever you go.
Unfortunately, laptops are high targets for theft because they’re both expensive and easy to spot. Theives can simply swipe your laptop when you’re sitting at a park bench or in a store simply by grabbing your laptop bag and running off. Until now.
A Spanish company has developed a laptop bag designed to disguise your computer as a newspaper. So, instead of seeing an expensive MacBook, a would-be thief sees a folded newspaper. No thief wants to steal a daily paper, so your laptop is safe.
The novelty company Mitemite Unnecessary Objects Lab is the genius behind this idea. Mitemite is based in Barcelona and prides itself on developing original and creative products meant to give everyday boring objects a fun flair.
No need to worry about getting ink on your clothes though. This newsworthy laptop is made of plastic material and comes with a detachable chain, so it only looks like a newspaper.
The downside? The bag isn’t cheap – it goes for around $85 – and it’s only available for the 15 inch MacBook Pro at the moment. However, Mitemite plans to expand the line as popularity increases.
If you want to get your very own newsworthy laptop bag, check the Mitemite website at www.mitemite.es [1]. You’ll have five different newspapers to chose from for your bag: Le Pais, La Vanguarda, Le Gretzza Dello Sport, Herald Tribune, and Frenkfurten Allgemeine.
What are you waiting for? The investment is well-worth it: $85 is a cheap price to pay to keep your $2000 computer safe from theft. You’ll also have a fun and interesting conversation piece to tell your friends and family about. Just make sure no thieves are around when you talk about it, otherwise they might take an interest in your simple "newspaper."
